Mahomet Bulldog Shootout - UPDATE

June 25-26-27 is the Mahomet Bulldog Baller Bash - The schedule can be found for this event at www.BulldogBball.com and click on ’schedules’ on the left hand side of the page - click on the ‘Varsity Division Pool Play plus Championship”. You can then click on us and see the full schedule and results as Sunday’s schedule will be determined by our results on Saturday.

All players both incoming and returning are welcome to attend this event BUT we ask that you email Coach Schreder so we have an idea of head count - jschreder@hs-stm.org by THURSDAY 6/24 at noon.

The present schedule to start the event is as follows:

Friday / 25th - 5pm Fieldhouse Court 1 STM (HOME) vs. Champaign Central
Saturday / 26th - 1pm Fieldhouse Court 1 STM (HOME) vs. El Paso
Saturday / 26th - 4pm Junior High BLUE Gym STM (AWAY) vs. Highland

Offensive Improvement Camp - CANCELLED

STM’s Offensive Improvement Camp that runs Tues-Thur. nights has been canceled due to lack of participants. The Kids’ Camp in the mornings of Tues-Fri will STILL BE IN SESSION.

Mahomet-Seymour High School Summer League - JV games are for last year’s JV players and this year’s incoming freshmen. The Varsity games are for last year’s JV and Varsity players. Coach Mennig will be there the first night and hand out STM reversibles.

Monticello Shootout - This is for returning JV and Varsity Players. Please email Coach Schreder as to who can or cannot attend this event. Incoming freshmen interested in competing in this email him as well as if there are roster spots needed we may fill you with them. jschreder@hs-stm.org

STM Girls Camp - Kids’ Camp - ALL Returning JV and Varsity players are to plan to work this event as service hours as this camp pays for all of your summer basketball. Offensive Improvement Camp - All returning players should plan to ATTEND this camp - you will need to get camp registration forms in the main office or with Mrs. Easton.

Open Gyms - Coach Melby will be running these this summer - if you have any questions please contact her directly as I am optimistic that many of you will take advantage of this gym time. I feel that our time is best served working on our skills to prepare for the coming year. katerace@gmail.com

Fitzgerald signs with Big 10 - Wisconsin Crew

Senior Maggie Fitzgerald signed a Letter of Intent to compete in crew at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Thursday. Maggie becomes the second basketball player in the program to receive a scholarship at the Division I level (Katie Jean ‘09 - Illinois State golf). We wish Maggie all the best with the Badgers this coming fall.

SVC All-Conference 2009-10

Sangamon Valley Conference announced their All-Conference Selections for the 2009-10 season. Four members of our girls basketball team were named to the Sangamon Valley All-Conference Teams. Maggie Fitzgerald and Gina Hinders were named to the First Team (Hinders 2nd straight year). Brittany Einck was named to the Special Mention (2nd Team) for the second straight year, and Lisa Clarkson was named to Honorable Mention Team. Congrats to our four seniors as this marks the second year in a row that the program has had at least four players receiving honors.

IBCA All-State 2009-10

Maggie Fitzgerald & Gina Hinders received All-State recognition by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Assocation (IBCA). Fitzgerald was named to 1st Team All-State, and was recognized at Redbird Arena during the State Playoffs. Gina Hinders was named to 3rd Team All-State after being named to the Honorable Mention All-State last year. This is the second year in a row that two Sabers were recognized at the state level, and the first time that two players were voted to All-State Teams.

Lisa Clarkson Advances 3pt Contest Sectional Finals

Senior Lisa Clarkson will shoot Thursday night before the Sectional Final game in the 3 point contest. She will shoot just after 6:30pm at Bloomington Central Catholic High School prior to the championship game. This is the third STM player to advance this far in four years. Good luck Lisa!

IHSA Regional Champions 2010

The girls won their third Regional Championship in four years defeating PBL 56-44. A great all around game by the entire team - Lisa Clarkson and Gina Hinders led the Sabers with 12 points each, while Jade Brinkoetter had 11 points; 9 of which all came in the 2nd quarter. Maggie Fitzgerald had 8 points and Brittany Einck had 7 with Miranda Becker again having a great defensive effort for the Sabers. The girls move on to the Sectional Semi-Final on Tuesday against Bloomington Central Catholic at 8:10pm at BCC.

Both Lisa Clarkson & Brittany Einck advanced in the 3 point contest and will shoot at 7:40pm on Tuesday.
