St. Thomas More 75 - IHSA Super-Sectional: Litchfield 36
St. Thomas More advanced to its first state final four tonight defeating Litchfield 75-36. A well balanced scoring attack saw all five starters score 9 points or more with Lexi Wallen leading the way with 19 points. Tori McCoy secured her 18th double-double of the year breaking the old STM record held by Gina Hinders ’10 scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Randa Harshbarger & Erica Wallen each scored 11 points with Harshbarger having 8 steals, 8 assists, & no turnovers, and Wallen had 6 rebounds. Jade Brinkoetter chipped in 9 points going 4-5 from the field. The Sabers worked the ball inside the entire first half not shooting a single three pointer, but opened up the game in the 2nd half shooting 5-6 beyond the arc. Only a sophomore, Lexi Wallen became the 3rd Saber this season to eclipse the 1,000 career points mark (Brinkoetter & Harshbarger)
The Sabers will face #5 ranked El-Paso Gridley on Friday 8:15pm at Redbird Arena in the State Semi-Finals.
